Interviewer:
Nadia I just thought about, you know, I know what I’ve done in training; this is what I’m
Comaneci: supposed to do here just to be able to concentrate.
Interviewer:
Nadia Of course I was overwhelmed by so many people, because there was a big arena,
Comaneci: and a lot of noise from every direction.
Interviewer:
Nadia I think I was prepared for that and I was telling myself the whole time, you know,
Comaneci: this is the Olympics. I cannot make a mistake. This is one shot.
Interviewer:
Nadia Yes, I couldn’t believe it.
Comaneci:
Interviewer:
Nadia I didn’t -I knew that 10 was a big deal, because I’d done gymnastics for eight - nine
Comaneci: years, and I’d done competitions, and I had even done the same routines before, but I
was too young to understand that. And I think it was better that I didn’t understand.
Interviewer:
Nadia Well, yes, but I didn’t come here to Montreal to make history. I didn’t even know
Comaneci: what that meant, to make history. Nobody told me that a perfect 10 had never been
scored before in Olympic history.

session 11 (b) “I didn’t know that I had made history. I knew that 10 was

same routines, but I was too young to understand that.”
34. Practice telling your anecdote and provide your teammates
with feedback on theirs.
