                                      French poet and writer Charles Perrault was born
                                      in 1628, in Paris. Though he began his career as
                                      a lawyer, Perrault earned a positive reputation
                                      for his poetry. He is perhaps best known for his
                                      Mother Goose fairy tales, including Little Red
                                       Riding Hood and Cinderella, which he wrote for
                                       his children.
