Dear student:
This book is for you and was written to support the
development of your reading skills.
Within this book, you'll nd the texts that accompany
the exercises in your Activity Book. You will also nd other
texts to read at your leisure as many times as you like.
Take some time to explore your book. You will notice
different texts: from tales to user’s guides, from diagrams
to travel brochures and comic strips. The aim is for you
become acquainted with a range of diverse texts, used
in different settings and for different purposes. As you
read these texts, you'll be able to see the ways in which
different authors use English in different types of texts.
You’ll expand your ability to:
• Read them by yourself, with a partner, several others
or your whole class.
• Read to enjoy a story and its characters' actions.
• Read to nd and compare information.
• Read to exchange opinions or ideas.
• Read to explain the content of a diagram, a photo or
a chart.
• Read to learn more about a subject or become
acquainted with new ideas.
• Read to widen your range of words and expressions
in English.
