and to look for clues to
determine if they will work for
their debate.
• Emphasize the importance of
noting the key terms or words
that give away the meaning of a
piece of text.
• Play the track and elicit what it
was about. You can ask them
questions such as: What are the
interlocutors discussing? What
reasons do they provide? Do
they reach a conclusion? Do you
agree with them? among others.
• Start a discussion about the
texts they skimmed and
remind them to provide reasons
for their opinions.
